What is Support Coordination?

Support coordination is support that helps you to understand and implement your NDIS plan. It has a move away from traditional case management as it is capacity building support which is time limited unless there are special circumstances involved or complex needs.

Not everyone gets Support coordination, only if it is deemed reasonable and necessary. It is in addition to the funding that you will receive for your daily living, Capacity building and equipment needs.

Do I Need An NDIS Support Coordinator?

A support coordinator will work with you to determine the best way to utilise your NDIS plan. To enable you to reach your goals they will:

  • Assist you to access a variety of community and informal supports.
  • Liaise with your preferred provider.

You will work closely with your support coordinator to resolve any issues or concerns you may have and arrange additional assessments as needed. They can also work with you to prepare for your annual plan review.

A good support coordinator will support you to increase your confidence and independence with your NDIS plan.

Your Support Coordinator will:

  • Have a good understanding of the NDIS legislation.
  • Be able to assist you to understand the price guides and flexibility within the budgets.
  • Work for a registered NDIS service provider.
  • will assist you to exercise true choice and control to achieve your goals.
